Trends and growth areas - Electronics
In a global perspective, the market for electronics and electromechanics is growing steadily and there are no indications of slowing in the foreseeable future.
Strong economic development in large and highly populated countries, above all in Asia, rapid advances in information technology, the growing volume of information to be handled and the ever-increasing energy requirements associated with this are a few of the fundamental drivers behind rising demand.
At the same time, electronics production is becoming increasingly efficient and the prices of the manufactured products are falling, which is among other things fuelling the migration of production from Europe to low-cost countries in Asia. In view of this, the business area's continued focus on the Asian market is crucial for its future development.
Through its own representation in Asia and by offering an effective, global logistics system, the business area has opportunities to win global distribution contracts from its European customers and thereby capture this migrated production. At the same time, the business area is working to widen the Asian customer base and increase the share of locally generated business.
A general trend on the electronics market is that the customers are demanding more comprehensive solutions rather than individual components and expect their product suppliers to also provide design and support services. For suppliers like EG Electronics, it is therefore important to prioritise among the product and customer segments in order to offer a well adapted range and value-creating services in selected niches.
