Environmental commitment
In the electonics industry, the drivers for product development are often linked to a need to reduce one or more parameters such as price, weight, volume and energy consumption, which can create positive environmental effects when properly utilised.
By assisting its customers in evaluation and selection of new products and materials, ElektronikGruppen can assist them in reducing their environmental impact. At the same time, there is a growing electronics market for products for improving energy efficiency and for alternative energy.
Efficient resource utilisation
In its own operations, ElektronikGruppen strives to minimise environmental impact through efficient resource utilisation at every stage. In trading activities this mainly involves optimising transports and reducing consumption of packaging materials, etc. As far as is commercially justifiable, ElektronikGruppen strives to use suppliers and transport companies that are environmentally certified.
The Electronics business area has established environmental targets in three areas: a) transport of goods, b) transport of personnel, and c) environmentally harmful substances in products. Among other things, the ambition is to reduce obsolescence, to increase the use of battery-free accesories in its own operations and to reduce the amount of travel to internal meetings.
Environmental and OHS certifications
In 2009 the entire Electronics business area received environmental certification in accordance with ISO 14001. In the Products business area, the production units in Estonia and Sri Lanka are both certified in accordance with ISO 14001 and with the OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety standard.
