Trends and growth areas - Products
Two fundamental drivers in the market where the business area operates are:
1. The number of products containing electronics is growing worldwide. Since all electronic devices require some type of power supply, there is a rising demand for inductive components that are necessary in all power equipment.
2. The higher electronic content in products is increasing the need to measure and control electronic signals, and this also calls for inductive components.
The factors that more specifically vouch for growth in demand for the business area's products are the rapid emergence of new applications for new areas of use and that these new applications typically offer more advanced functionality, better performance and higher speed. At the same time, there is an ongoing miniaturisation of components in order to decrease the size of the end-products. Added to this is a growing environ-
mental awareness in large parts of the world that is intensifying demands on energy efficiency in electronic equipment.
All of the above cases call for power devices with a higher efficiency rate and the business area's products are very well adapted to meet these requirements. One such example is the ongoing phase-out of traditional linear power supplies in favour of the significantly more energy efficient switched-mode power supplies.
